Today in the U.S., we observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a holiday commemorating the great civil rights activist and advocate.
While Dr. King had his Sun in Capricorn, both his work as well as the holiday established in his honor very much reflect Aquarian principles. Dr. King as an Aquarian champion, tirelessly working for and with the people on behalf of human rights. And the holiday bearing his name seemingly came to pass by the will of the Aquarian collective. The bill to establish the national holiday in his honor did not initially pass Congress; it progressed from an idea to a reality largely as a result of public outcry, in the form of a petition of more than six million signatures.
As Venus, the planet of beauty and values, moves into the sign of Aquarius today (and the Sun moves into this sign tomorrow), reflecting upon both the humanitarian efforts of Dr. King as well as how we too may be further inspired to contribute to the betterment of the world at large may be a rewarding exercise.

This evening the Sun moves into Aquarius, leaving Capricorn where it has resided for the past 30 days. In honor of Capricornian pragmatism, today is a good day to take inventory of how this sign’s energies may have inspired you over the past four weeks. Consider what your dedication and hard work have yielded while reflecting upon how being practical in a certain area of your life has paid off—or is in the process of paying off—in spades.
We can now take these lessons that we have amassed while the Sun was in Capricorn and parlay them into assets that will allow us to further help the world at large. This is one of the areas of emphasis of Aquarius, where the Sun will be for the next month and where Venus and Neptune are currently residing.

Today’s Aries Moon may make us feel spunky
But can be just what the doctor ordered if we’ve been feeling especially funky.
The infusion of energy and get-it-done-now spriteliness can provide us with some verve,
To help us get through today’s bumps and curves.
Even with the heightened push for action it’s important to look before you leap,
While not running away from feelings that you have that may be solemn and deep.

If you face a challenge today, ask yourself: Are my head and heart aligned? Is what I think will be best in harmony with what I feel will be most nurturing?
If not, see if you can make adjustments so that all parts of you are honored and the goodness you are focused on creating can more efficiently manifest.

The Moon is still in Aries for most of the day, although a good portion of that–from 11:47 am through 8:39 pm PST–it spends void-of-course (VOC). When the Moon is VOC, it’s a better time to reflect than to act, which is easier said than done when the Moon is in the sign of active Aries. The solution: don’t hold back your desire for movement and animation yet just remember that things that are started when the Moon is VOC don’t readily take hold and manifest. Wait to initiate any ideas that may come to pass after the Moon moves into Taurus at 8:39 pm (it will be connected in grounded Taurus until Sunday at 7:03 pm).

Take some time to focus on your own personal well-being today.
Treat yourself. Eat something delicious. Go for a walk. Buy yourself some flowers. In whichever ways feel best, indulge your senses and connect with your body. This can help you find the ground within yourself so that you can continue to be the ground for others in your life.
