If you’re feeling a little anxious today, or sensing that an extra dose of grounding may be helpful, try some pranayama exercises.
Pranayama refers to yogic breathing practices. Prana is the Sanskrit word for breath (as well as life force) while ayama means restraint. During pranayama you channel the breath in a way that allows you to control, direct, and oftentimes momentarily suspend it.
If you don’t have a favorite breathing exercise, two simple ones to try include Bee Breath and Alternate Nostril Breath (also known as Channel Cleaning Breath).

If the first part of the day seems a bit chaotic, remember the adage: “This too shall pass.” The latter hours may inspire a nostalgic sense and experiences that trigger a sense of “coming-home” within.

When the Moon’s in Cancer, like it is today, it’s especially productive to tune into your gut feelings so as to further clarify your needs and desires.
When writing this post, a gut feeling overcame me. And that was to share a special quote by Richard Bach as a way to reflect some of today’s energies with the Cancer Moon trine the Pisces Sun, Jupiter, and Venus. Enjoy!
“The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life.” – Richard Bach

When we want to nurture ourselves, we oftentimes turn to the same things—whether they be foods, activities, or people—to help us gain a deep “feel good” sense. Today, if it feels right, consider changing things up. Instead of going to your favorite go-to to give yourself a sense of internal security and calm, try something new. Doing so will likely give you a broader sense of understanding as to what you truly need to honor your heart.

Today is a day to shine.
And as we do, it’s important to remember that it’s not only our inherent right to radiate our essence, but, on some level, our obligation. It’s a responsibility that we not only have to ourselves—to keep our vital essence (prana) flowing—but to others. After all, we each have distinctive gifts—facets of our selves—that by being shared with others can illuminate and grace their lives. And if we hold that back, not only are we doing injustice to ourselves but to those around us as well.

The light is bright as we approach tomorrow’s Full Moon. Not only is it luminescent in the night sky but our hearts may also feel kindled by a flowing sense of compassion to which we are connecting.
Additionally, with Mercury conjunct Neptune, the barriers between our conscious and unconscious mind may seem thinner with the walls between waking and dreaming life replaced by gossamer porosity that allows for a greater sense of osmosis between the two. This diffusion can either make us feel a bit spacey, or we can use it to tap into a greater sense of knowingness, one that allows us to pierce the veils that separate the seen from the usually unseen.

Today’s Pisces/Virgo Full Moon illuminates:
- The bridging of the physical and soulful
- The compassion that can flow from our hearts as we engage in our day-to-day activities
- The ideal of selfless service

I want to tell you that I really love the pictures you have on this blog. They are always tasteful and evoke a positive mood. They are absolutely a thing of beauty!
Thank you, Laura. It was really important to me to create/offer a space of beauty. I am honored to feature the photographs of Alex Carrillo (most of the works are by him) as I feel they really grace the site and the feeling/insights that my words are trying to express. All the best, Stephanie
I’m stunned. That quote is the one and only line I have underlined in pencil from when I was 14 years old within his book Illusions. It’s one of the few books I have from my early life still with me; tattered and worn. I always share it with my friends because I am no longer in touch with most of my family line and I have made new family over the years. That line is one of my deepest life touchstones.
I just finished reading Planetary Apothecary! I loved it. I read it right after I read Chakra Foods for Optimum Health and the parallels between both books were spot on! I read for my Virgo Sun and Leo Moon; and then because I have an intercepted house, I read both Scorpio and Sagittarius Ascendant. Because I have the bulk of all my planets in Libra, and my husband is a Libra Ascendant, I read that too. My Mars is in Libra so tai chi really called out to me. My husband and I will start tai chi together I think!
I knew about Virgos and pets but I had no idea about Leos and manes! My husband and I are both Leo moons (and Virgo suns!) so no wonder we groom so often heehee!
Your book is fantastic! It’s a keeper for reference on my shelf for life.
I love that you already had such a connection to that quote!!!
I am glad that you liked Planetary Apothecary and found such value in it. It’s funny…Chakra Foods for Optimum Health is one of the more recent books I have purchased.
All the best to you, as always, Stephanie
