An Astrological Approach to Health and Wellness

Posted January 29, 2010

Please join me for a workshop –An Astrological Approach to Health and Wellness–that I am giving in Seattle on February 13 (the day of the auspicious Aquarius New Moon).

In this workshop, we’ll explore how astrology can provide insights into physical and emotional well-being. We’ll review personal-health profiles as well as dietary tips, self-care treatments and natural remedies (including essential oils, flower essences and herbs) for each sign and also explore wellness recommendations to support specific astrological transits. Whether you are an astrologer, involved in another healing profession, or you are looking to enhance your own self-care, this workshop will provide you with take-away knowledge that will give you a greater understanding of individuals’ wellness needs as well as tailored lifestyle recommendations. Through a mixture of lecture, dialogue, and experiential learning, you’ll learn jewels of natural healing to promote both your clients’ well-being as well as your own.

Sponsored by the Washington State Astrological Association (WSAA)

Fee: $55 if preregistered by February 12; day of $65 (Washington State Astrological Association members) and $75 (non-members)

Prereg discount may be available: Details to follow shortly

* A portion of the proceeds will go to Partners in Health to support their ongoing relief work in Haiti.*

Astro*Health Trends Lecture Notes

Posted January 26, 2010

On January 14 (the evening of the Capricorn Solar Eclipse), I was was honored to present a discussion on Astro*Health Trends at the monthly meeting of the Washington State Astrological Association (WSAA).

Understanding societal trends is yet another significant contribution that astrology can offer as it allows us a way to both delineate cycles as well as connect with the archetypes that are being expressed during various times. Given my passion for and background in nutrition and wellness education, I am especially interested in understanding patterns as related to enhancing collective well-being; hence, my focus on Astro*Health Trends.

Reflecting the interest expressed  by readers and colleagues not able to attend the discussion, I thought I would make the lecture notes available online in PDF format. If you would like to download them, click here. The discussion was taped and will be available in the near future on the WSAA website; when it is, I will post a link to it.

This is a burgeoning field of study/research for me and one that I am excited to further focus my attention upon. If you have any feedback, suggestions, or questions, I would love to hear from you. Leave a comment or email me at StephanieATplanetaryapothecary.com.

Namaste, Stephanie

Donate to Haiti Relief Efforts, Get Free Astro Chart

Posted January 15, 2010

The Haiti earthquake has struck such a deep chord in so many people. The scope of destruction is so intense and sorrowful. Faced with this, it seems that levels of humanity are coming together for a common cause, wanting to help, wanting to do whatever each person can in their power to help relieve the suffering of fellow beings. This touches me, as I know it does so many others.

Besides praying, sending positive thoughts, and personally donating money, I have this sense of wanting to do more. At this point, what I have come to is that I can donate my time. The way in which I thought would be best would be to offer my services in exchange for your donation to a Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund.

So, for the first 54 people through January 22, for those who make a donation to Partners in Health, Doctors Without Borders, YeleRed Cross, Oxfam, or their favorite charity–or donate blood or goods or time, whatever best suits their abilities–I would like to present you a free copy of your astrological chart. Included I will point out where your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs are and give you some descriptions of the qualities reflected by them. It is a way for you to better know and appreciate yourself, to get a deeper sense of yourself astrologically than just knowing your Sun sign.

I don’t have any fundraising tools in place on my website, so I am going to rely upon what I believe to be a central core of our shared humanity: Trust. All you need to do is tell me you are going to make a donation (including to which organization, although you needn’t share with me how much) and it will be my pleasure to send you a free copy of your chart. To do so, just email me at StephanieATplanetaryapothecaryDOT.com (the AT=@ and the dot equals .  – I’ve written it out this way to avoid spam), letting me know your birthday, exact time of birth, and city/state/country. There is no minimum amount you need to donate. To me, just the act of doing so is lovely.

Thank you,

Peace and blessings,

Stephanie

Astro*Health Trends Lecture

Posted January 4, 2010

If you’re in the Seattle area on Thursday, January 14 (the night of the Capricorn New Moon Solar Eclipse), consider joining me for a lecture I am giving as part of the monthly meeting of the Washington State Astrological Association (WSAA).

The topic is Astro*Health Trends.

In the discussion, we’ll explore what planetary alignments reveal about the health/wellness concerns that impact us collectively. We’ll look back at past cycles and then look to present and future ones—including Saturn in Libra and the Cardinal Cross—to explore what trends they may usher in. These insights will not only provide for a big picture understanding but also practical tips that can be used when advising clients (as well as ourselves) who are connecting to these larger cultural trends.

While this discussion is being given at the monthly meeting of WSAA, it is also open to the general public. The information will be presented so that it will be of interest/benefit to those with a varying range of astrological knowledge. In addition to laypersons interested in wellness-promoting lifestyles, it should also suit the curiosity of healthcare practitioners looking to garner an expanded perspective on how wellness astrology can provide benefits to their clients’ well-being.

The cost is $7.00 for first-time attendees and WSAA members and $15.00 for non-members.

It’s being held at Puget Sound Yacht Club, 2321 N Northlake Way, Seattle, WA. The meeting is called for 7:00 pm while my discussion will start at 7:30 pm and last until close to 9:00 pm.

I hope you can join me. And if we’ve yet to meet, please introduce yourself. I’d love to meet you in person.
