The focus of the day is how to be resourceful in a completely new way. Consider whether you can discover an innovative method of efficient productivity that you’ve yet to truly regard.

Communicative Mercury shifted from catalyzing Aries to practical Taurus yesterday. And with that our processing of information may slow down as we also require material evidence to make judgements, rather than just being inspired by our instincts. Taurus likes to hold on to that which it knows and as such is known for a certain sense of stubbornness. Therefore you may find yourself or others clinging tightly to their ideas or ways of sharing messages. While there’s something to be said for persistence, just watch that holding on too tightly to a communication routine for the perceived sense of security doesn’t get in your way of full self-expression.

This morning I got frustrated writing this post. The words didn’t stream in. I was waiting for the phrases to come to me 1-2-3 and they didn’t appear. I felt like I was swimming through molasses, obstructions here and there.

And then…I realized that this experience mirrored what I was wanting to write about. After all, today the Moon moves from quick-acting Sagittarius to slow and steady Capricorn, where it spends the bulk of the day. While the first part of Wednesday may fly at lightning speed, the second part will likely prod along more at turtle’s pace. With the Moon in Capricorn, we need to shift our expectations to things taking time and requiring effort. In my case, instead of my assuming words will stream in at a quick clip I needed to realize that it would take a lot of concentration and endurance to write and that it may even take some time before I could see the results of my efforts. And once I did so, I was able to create something — the results of which you are currently reading.

I recently watched a Ted Talk by Alain de Botton entitled “A kinder, gentler philosophy of success.” In it he reveals key insights that may have you look at the idea of success in a new light.

He speaks about how in this day and age–in which we have bought into the idea that “anyone can do anything”–there is a lot of pressure to succeed, or rather not to fail. He notes how this breeds the potential for collective low self esteem, which seems to be rampant. He also talks about how if we don’t reach a certain level of achievement, we internalize it as our fault rather than at least partially (if not wholly) owing to external circumstances upon which we have little, if any, control. He pins some of the inbalance on the fact in this modern day and age, we are disconnected from the mysterious, from the “gods” and “goddesses” and that we don’t worship anything other than ourselves, other than humanity.

He later speaks about how we should not give up ideas of success but focus on them being our own rather than others’ definitions. He notes–and this is my favorite line–that we should be “the author of our own ambitions.”

Given the Moon’s in achievement-oriented Capricorn and it makes a harmonious trine to values-driven Venus, I thought this would be a wonderful topic to explore today, and therefore the reason behind my sharing this video clip.

It’s likely to have been a busy week so far. While things may be been developing slowly, there’s a sense that events and situations are concretizing. We’ve been inspired to shore up the foundations so that we can build solid structures. Today, instead of imagining all that we can do, we are ready to do the work required. Yet, there may be some obstacles to move through, notably other’s communications, which have the potential to throw us off course. Be aware that new details may emerge that you hadn’t anticipate — so make room in your day for a contingency plan. With those hurdles overcome, we’ve got the commitment and endurance to make things happen.

It’s the Sun’s last day in Aquarius this year, and connections take precedence today. There’s an emphasis on linking to others, seeing the thread that runs through all of us. Within that, we’re inclined to not only understand our commonality but strive to promote our collective well-being. There’s something in this that may feel a bit renegade, as if you need to pursue an innovative approach to pursue your desires, with technology being an ample ally in doing so. And yet, this groundbreaking strategy shouldn’t feel foreign but rather very natural. It make take some work to accomplish what you set out to, but the effort seems so easy, and so well worth it. There’s a depth of communication that allows us express this altruistic striving. We can reach deep into our minds to find words that shift situations that may have previously appeared stagnant.

Are there areas in your life where you overdue solemnity and sobriety? Are there facets of your life where you allow yourself to accept more than your fair share of responsibilities so much so that it not only depletes you of joy and vitality but becomes counter-productive to your goals?

With the Moon in Capricorn most of the day, as we wind down to the Aquarius New Moon, we have opportunities to consider these questions and commit to releasing that which doesn’t serve us. This way we invest in a clearer canvas upon which we can plant seeds for a new cycle of growth in the arenas of altruism, collective participation, and problem-solving whose aim is to enhance our communities.

Deep feelings emerge early in the day. They may be ones you had awareness of but just kept at bay. Alternatively, if you’ve been avoiding certain feelings, they may arise from the caverns of your heart with great force, potentially taking you by surprise.

It’s a day where being productive and attending to things that may have lasting value feels good. If you feel the urge to do something differently than usual, allow the space for creative self-expression.

Try to be really clear where the goal is you are aiming for. There’s the potential for a sense of overinflation in terms of what we are capable of. Just make sure you’re setting your sights high, but still within reach.

Remember that when we come up against restrictions, it’s not necessarily negative. Sometimes when we brush up against proverbial closed doors or signals of limitations, it doesn’t have to spell ill consequences nor a blocking of one’s life’s trajectory. In fact, these experiences can be boundary shaping, allowing us to more efficiently use our resources to craft a well-lived life. Instead of taking “No”s as a signal of defeat instead take it as a signal of another direction from where to seek a “Yes.” A “No:can be boons to help us “Know” and forge a path that will allow us to best invest our resources so that we can gain further wisdom, fulfillment and joy.

What inspires this notion today? Nothing other than the efficient Capricorn Moon squaring structure-giving Saturn.
