It’s a day of depths and heights. We’re pulled down to the lower levels, into the proverbial mud, needing to look at what we may perceive as messy, but which–ultimately–needs to be addressed and cleaned up. On the other hand, we’re feeling the urge to dance from here to there, having adventures wherever we go, with a sense of levity. How can these two seemingly non-similar energies mix rather than conflict? If you’re feeling in the muck and mire, probing through the depths of situations, go to the very efficient and handy strategy of questioning, of asking Why? Peruse through experiences with a desire to learn just what is going on, and what there is to understand. It may be an intense day, but it will also be a very valuable one as well.

Are there areas in your life that you feel less able to express your view points? Do you have a “story”–likely engendered when you were younger–that you aren’t smart enough? Do you hold yourself back from authentically communicating, for fear of embarassment, non-acceptance, or self-perceived shame? If so, you are definitely not alone. And yet, stifled self-expression has such great costs, including our ability to connect, feel centered, be empowered, and live a life we truly love. Therefore it’s valuable to take a look at it and see how we can free ourselves from its constraints.

Today, Mercury unites with Chiron, bringing these communication “wounds” to light. With Jupiter harmoniously connecting to this duo, it’s as if there’s a guardian angel who can help us compassionately see these hurts, breathe into them, and begin to let them go. It’s not that they become completely erased, though. In fact, we may not necessarily want them to be as they can serve as a place within where we can compassionately connect with others since we can relate in a “I know what you mean because I’ve been there” type of way. Yet through our own self-discovery and healing process, we can resonate with others with an authenticity of relatedness while not carrying such a great burden of restricted and encumbered self-expression restriction anymore.

Today, Pluto, the signifier of the underworld, is in a challenging aspect to Venus, the planet of love and beauty.

During this time, passions escalate and relationships may feel more intense. The concept of control—maintaining it and/or releasing it—takes center stage, with a feeling of all-or-nothing enveloping romantic and/or creative pursuits. If you’ve been looking for some help pushing through self-imposed limits, now may be a good time. There’s an intensity in the air, which may have you replacing the “I should” in your sentences with “I must” when it comes to experiences that can bring you joy and pleasure.

Ardor abounds, with desire—whether it be sexual or a deep yearning to be truly known by another—the name of the game. Pluto-Venus energy helps to draw forward buried feelings, whether those to which you’ve turned a blind eye or just didn’t want to express to another.

Tensions may be stirred both in romantic liaisons as well as friendships (notably those with women). If you can stay true to your deep needs and express them, it will help your relationships to transform and become more integrated and authentic. Or you will see that, in fact, certain ones have run their course and do not necessarily offer you the value that you truly seek.

Think back to December 1, considering whether any event manifesting or feelings stirred recently have resonance to those that sparked then. This may help you get context as to what is arising today. Today we forge new alliances, not only with other people but with our convictions and intentions. It’s a day where hard work may be required yet the pay-off will be greater than we may even calculate in the present moment. If you feel blocked in your advances consider whether it’s a sign that a redirection of effort may be more efficient and productive.

Think back to mid-October (around October 13 to be precise). Events and reflections that manifest today may seem related to those that came into being then. We have an opportunity to course correct, to get ourselves back in alignment with ways in which to more authentically express who we are and further live from our core of truth.

What do you do with uncertainty? Do you have it stop you in your tracks? Do you sit quietly with it, figuring out how to move through the cloudiness, finding a deeper level of clarity? Do you proceed regardless, ignoring it somewhat? This question seems to hold relevance in the earlier part of the day. Focusing upon it may yield some great insights.

Later in the day there’s a definitive shift in energy as our attention turns upwards and outwards. We may feel the urge to do something differently than we normally do. Explore what that experience is like.

A challenge may arise if we feel torn between wanting to be bold and uninhibited while at the same time reveling in the softness of solitude and quiet. See if there is a way to honor both.
